Round The Island Cruise
When: Most of July
What: Sail (or motor) around Vancouver Island, counter-clockwise; up the Salish Sea to Johnstone Strait and the Broughtons, up to the “top of the Island,” Cape Scott and down the west coast of the island stopping in Quatsino, Kyuquot, Esperanza and Nootka sounds, Hot Springs Cove, Ucluelet, Bamfield, Port Renfrew, Victoria and home to Gabriola. Crossing Nahwitti Bar should be done at high water slack early in the morning in order that all boats will make it to Winter Harbour for the night so the plan is to meet in Port McNeil July 12th, re-provision there, then proceed to Bull Harbour to cross the Bar on the 15th (weather permitting). SBYC cruisers also have the option of joining the cruise north as far as they wish then return to their home ports by backtracking.
